Insurance Reform: Legislation

Senator Connie Williams (D-Montgomery) and Representative Bob Godshall (R-Montgomery) have both introduced bills which would allow health care providers to negotiate with health care insurers.

Summary: Providing for health care professional joint negotiation with health care insurers and for the powers and duties of the Attorney General.

Senate Bill No. 52
Summary: Authorizing health care providers to negotiate with health care insurers; and providing for the powers and duties of the Attorney General and the Insurance Commissioner.

Representative Josh Shapiro (R-Montgomery) has reintroduced 3PSC's 60/90 legislation. HB1349 increases the required notice period, required of insurers to give doctors, for premium increases and medical liability policy terminations from 30 and 60 days, respectively, to 60 and 90 days, respectively.
